Samsung and Apple can work together. During the CES 2019 in Las Vegas, the bitter smartphone competitors announce that they will work together on smart TVs in the future. Movies and TV shows from Apple’s iTunes will now be playable on a Samsung Smart TV without AppleTV.
Previously, who was using Apple iTunes movies and TV series and wanted to enjoy them on a TV in the living room, which required forcibly the set-top box from Cupertino. Without an Apple TV, you could only enjoy it on an appropriate PC with the help of an iPad, iPhone, a Mac or with iTunes for Windows.
Apple converts iTunes to streaming service
Samsung has announced in a statement that Apple will make iTunes available for Smart TVs from 2018 and 2019. In addition, products from the TV segment, which come in the spring of 2019 in the trade, should still have AirPlay 2. Thus, screen contents of Apple products can be directly mirrored without additional hardware.
For Apple, Samsung is not an exclusive partner, because you generally open iTunes for SmartTV manufacturers. What other partners Apple has in the back is still unknown, but it will follow more manufacturers.
With the opening, Apple’s goal could be to generate more revenue from the content. It is known that Apple, as well as Amazon or Netflix, wants to offer in-house productions or exclusive content via iTunes. By opening iTunes to smart TV manufacturers, Apple could reach a much wider audience. For the user, it has the advantage that you have no further hardware follow-up costs with the purchase of a modern smart TV.
